What’s next for VotingSmarter?
The general election of 2020 is finally over, and everyone here at VotingSmarter is breathing a sigh of relief after months of hard work. VotingSmarter’s #CandidateMatchmaker app was able to help thousands of people — particularly young voters and first-time participants in politics — find their political match and make better-informed political decisions.
So what’s next for VotingSmarter?
Well, first of all, you might think that the 2020 election season is over — but you’d be wrong! Thanks to Georgia’s “jungle primary” electoral system, there will be two run-off elections for the state’s two seats in the U.S. Senate on January 5. VotingSmarter is already preparing to help the voters of the Peach State find their political matches in a neutral, nonpartisan way. We have added the special election into our Candidate Matchmaker. You can now scroll through all four candidates up for the senate seats.
After Georgia, there are no federal elections until 2022, but the year 2021 will have many elections at the local level across the country — for example, there are mayoral races in cities stretching from Seattle, WA, to Atlanta, GA. VotingSmarter’s research team is already working to help voters in these cities become informed about their choices! We want to focus on one state and go all the way down to judges.
VotingSmarter is also planning to roll out new features in the coming months — the most prominent of which is our new feature, BuyingSmarter. BuyingSmarter is geared to help people practise ethical consumerism, by showing buyers which companies have practises that align with their values most. We want to help you vote with your dollar.
In the coming months, VotingSmarter will also be working on a variety of brand new features, so stay tuned! The best way to stay up to date on our new features is to download the app from the iOS app store, or go to our website.
